Hello Spring!

Youth Association for Mental Health (YAMH) is an emerging non profit organization, working to aid mental health issues within our community. Due to COVID-19 activities have been adjusted and new programs have been added in order to ensure health and safety for everyone. We will be helping to relieve the stress from the virus by encouraging all of our staff members to participate in a mutual community garden, where all social distancing measures will be practiced as per Health Canada. Herbs and local fruits and vegetables can be grown to deliver to those who may need in these uncertain times. Having a routine and something to focus plays a large role in stress prevention and overall health, this program is allowing for our youth to be involved in this state of pause. Another program that YAMH is offering is a virtual book club! Including books of all genres (crime, fiction, romance, non-fiction etc.) The beginning date for the YAMH book club will be announced soon updates will be made through our new instagram page. (@_yamh) Enjoy spring with the new normal, hope everyone is staying safe and at home!

We strive to create a safe, comfortable, and accepting space for young individuals and their families to come and share their personal struggles and journeys. We hope our organization provides them at least a sense of relief and reassures them that they are not alone in their fight.

Program Description

Our main service will be a support group for young individuals to come and express themselves in a safe space, surrounded by those who can understand and relate to the struggle one encounters on a daily basis. The group will be targeted for all youth & their famlies, who struggle with everyday challenges. This group will offer information sessions and group meetings that will create a place for individuals to come and learn valuable skills such as anxiety management, depression support conversations and overall a safe place to share their experiences and feelings. Not all members of our current society are fortunate enough to afford professional therapudic help when it comes to mental health. The expenses of a physchiatrist or therapist for the amount of therapy one needs can be extremely costly. Here at YAMH we believe that mental health should be taken as seriously as physical health conditions. People struggling with mental health are not weak minded, rather they too are sick and need help in any possible way, and that’s where YAMH as a plateform comes handy
